We Don't Have To Choose Decline

America’s decline is always a choice, not a destiny.

Americans were told that President Biden initially targeted the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan on September 11th because he wanted to have a good photo op. By getting the troops out of Afghanistan and ending the war on the 20th anniversary of 9/11, he could take a political victory lap and pat himself on the back when he gives the speech to commemorate 9/11. 

In recent weeks, Biden's incompetently planned and poorly executed withdrawal from Afghanistan brought many photo ops, just not the kind he had hoped for. The image of two Afghans falling off a U.S. Air Force plane in midair is eerily similar to the image of an American in a suit and tie jumping off the burning World Trade Center 20 years ago. We watched in horror as Taliban fighters executed an Afghan translator by hanging him off an American Black Hawk Helicopter that our military left behind. Then 13 American flag-draped coffins carried 13 of our troops killed by terrorist attacks near the Kabul Airport. These images do not p…
