Of all the nominees for Trump’s cabinet, I am particularly thrilled about Chris Wright, the nominee for Energy Secretary.
Wright has deep ties to my beloved hometown, Denver, Colorado, having served as the CEO of Liberty Energy, a Denver-based oil and gas company. Despite living and working in the same town, I must confess that I didn’t know much about Wright before his nomination.
After President Trump nominated Wright for Energy Secretary, someone sent me a manifesto published by Wright’s Liberty Energy in 2024, titled “Bettering Human Lives: Everyone Desires and Deserves More Energy and the Opportunities It Unleashes.” The manifesto begins with ten key takeaways, which include
1. Energy is essential to life and the world needs more of it!
2. Hydrocarbons are essential to improving the wealth, health, and life opportunities for the less energized seven billion people who aspire to be among the world’s lucky one billion.
4. Making energy more expensive or unreliable compromises people, national security, and the environment.
5. Climate change is a global challenge but is far from the world’s greatest threat to human life.
6. Zero Energy Poverty by 2050 is a superior goal compared to Net Zero 2050.
Each line resonates with me and reinforces my belief that energy is not merely a commodity; it is a vital foundation for human flourishing. My belief in the transformative power of energy stems from my life experiences.
