Taiwan Can Do It, Why Can’t We?
Taiwan has shown us that it is not rocket science to vote, count, and announce election results within the same day.
As we approach the 2024 presidential elections, politicians and legacy media have already been warning that we may not learn the election result on election night, even though we are the world’s most powerful and technologically advanced nation. How disappointing.
It’s worth noting that our election is not the only consequential one. Taiwan, a nation of 22 million, managed to conduct a historical presidential election earlier this year. The island voted, counted the ballots, and announced the winner all within a single day. This efficient process stands in stark contrast to our own, raising the question: how did Taiwan achieve this?
