One of the Oldest Civil Rights Organizations Denounces the Critical Race Theory
Chinese American Citizens Alliance of Greater New York (CACAGNY) delivered the strongest rebuttal yet to the Critical Race Theory (CRT) on February 23, calling CRT "a hateful, divisive, manipulative fraud."
The rebuttal is significant because supporters of CRT usually dismiss anyone who criticizes CRT as a "white supremacist." But it will be difficult to label CACAGNY as such because CACAGNY is one of the oldest chapters of Chinese American Citizens Alliance (C.A.C.A), which is one of our nation's oldest civil rights organizations. C.A.C.A was founded in San Francisco in 1895 to help Chinese Americans to "quicken the spirit of American patriotism…and to make secure their citizen’s rights."
The organization was founded in response to a nationwide open discrimination and violence against Chinese-Americans, especially after the passing of the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882, which suspended the immigration of Chinese laborers (skilled or unskilled) for a period of 10 years.
