Several months ago, I announced here that I would be creating a documentary to raise awareness about stillbirth and its prevention.
As many of you know, this cause is deeply personal: in 2018, my son Lucas was born still—a loss that shattered our world. Since then, I’ve come to understand stillbirth as a profound public health crisis, claiming the lives of around 21,000 babies in the United States each year. Tragically, research indicates that at least 25% of these losses may be preventable. I’m committed to changing these heartbreaking statistics and saving lives.
Since that initial announcement, I’ve built an incredible production team united by this mission. We’ve received our first grant and have had the privilege of interviewing grieving families, a compassionate grief counselor, and a dedicated photographer who has selflessly created remembrance portraits for over 200 stillborn babies and their families.
Today, I’m excited to share the result of months of heartfelt work: the official trailer for “The Due Time.”
There are three ways you can help us bring this independent film to life:
1. **Share the Trailer**: Spread the word by sharing the trailer with your social circles and on social media using the hashtags #TheDueTime, #EndPreventableStillbirth, and #BreakTheSilence.
2. **Make a Donation**: At https://www.theduetime.com/donat, your tax-deductible donations are greatly appreciated. Please encourage others to contribute as well. We will recognize all donors in the film's credits.
3. **Share Your Experience**: If you have a story about stillbirth to share, we would love to hear from you. Please fill out the form on our contact page.
There’s still much ahead in 2026, but releasing this trailer fills me with hope and determination. Thank you for standing with us.
If you have experienced the loss of a loved one and are in deep sorrow, I invite you to read “The Parable of the Mustard Seeds,” an ancient Zen story teaches us that the strength to heal is within us, if we choose to embrace it.
