Happy Father's Day to All Fathers and Father Figures

Fathers are the first heroes we know;

Fathers protect us and make us feel safe;

Fathers instill in us confidence, discipline, and work ethic;

Fathers teach us how to fix things, and a hammer is not scary but a useful tool;

Fathers inspire us to set high expectations for ourselves and never settle for less;

Fathers demonstrate what a loving partnership is by loving and supporting of our mothers;

We learn not to fear obstacles because if we stumble, fathers are always there to help us get back on our feet.

Some of us are also blessed with father figures in our lives. When fathers are not around, they step in at a moment’s notice and provide all the love, protection, and support we need.

I am forever grateful to have General Fred Leigh as a father figure in my life. When my parents couldn’t attend my wedding, he walked me down the aisle. He passed away in September, 2008. May he rest in peace.
